Description
Up for sale is a brand new 1/400 ANSETT AUSTRALIA AVIATION TRADERS ATL-98 VH-INJ CARVAIR (XX4406) by JC Wings.
Originally built for Svensk Interkontinental Luftrafik AB in 1946 as a Douglas DC-4 registration SE-BBD. It was sold to S.A.S. in 1948. After short periods in Sweden and then with Japan Airlines it was sold to Ansett-A.N.A. in August 1963 as VH-INJ. It was used by Ansett-ANA subsidiary Airlines of N. S. W. in December 1963. In May 1965 Ansett arranged for the aircraft to be converted by Freddie Lakers Aviation Traders at their Southend UK centre. It returned to Ansett-A.N.A. in Melbourne in September that year and operated it’s first Carvair revenue freight service in October. It continued with Ansett Air Cargo unti it was withdrawn in June 1972. Its final days were with Air Cambodge and it was believed abandoned in Phnom Penh, Cambodia about 1975.
This model air-plane is made from die-cast metal and includes extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Gemini Jets, Phoenix Models, NG Models and Aviation400.
