Description

Up for sale is a brand new 1/72 RNZAF Royal New Zealand Air Force Douglas A-4K Skyhawk NZ6207 (HA1439) by Hobby Master.

Displayed on this model is the original as delivered scheme with straight refueling probe, NZ6207 was one of the ten original batch of  A4K single seaters delivered in May 1970 aboard the USS Okinawa. Sadly it was the first Skyhawk to be lost in service. This occurred on 18 October 1974. The aircraft, flown by Wing Commander F M Kinvig suffered a flame out due to a failure of an oil pump and the pilot was forced to eject one mile north of its base at Ohakea after engine failure caused by a total loss of oil pressure. WCdr Kinvig broke his leg on landing. The version of this aircraft on display in the RNZAF museum is an ex US Navy A4L finished to look like the original.

This model aircraft is made from die-cast metal and includes extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Corgi, Gemini Jets, JC Wings, Witty Wings, Century Wings, NG Models and Aviation72.

Includes display stand.
