Up for sale is a brand new 1/500 QANTAS BOEING 707-300 VH-EAB “WINTON” (529488) by Herpa Wings.
A QANTAS staff member called Paul Miller suggested that this aeroplane, which had been seconded back into service after a delay with the new 747’s could carry a Christmas message, based on the airline’s advertising theme. So ‘Have A QANTASTIC Christmas’ was painted above the windows where ‘QANTAS AUSTRALIA’ had been. It then left for a new life overseas having a varied career with several airlines. It is still flying as a Boeing E-8C JSTARS with the United States Air Force as 92-3289 ‘Belle of Middle Georgia’.
This model air-plane is made from die-cast metal and includes extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Gemini Jets, JC Wings, NG Models and Phoenix models.
