Description
Up for sale is an as new 1/144 Skyways Avro York G-AHFI “Skyway” (47201) by Corgi.
A case of swords into plow-shares, the York was a derivative of the famous Lancaster bomber with a new larger fuselage suitable for carrying passengers and freight in the post war world although its origins date back to 1942. Skyways Ltd achieved some very high utilisation rates with their York’s, with Avro advertising referring specifically to two Skyways aircraft (G-AHFI Skyway) and (G-AHLV Sky Courier) which achieved 2,177, and 2,402 hours utilisation respectively during 1947. The mainstay of the advertisements read… ‘By day and night, in fair weather and foul, Avro airliners are carrying their precious cargoes to the far corners of the earth’.
This model aircraft is made from die-cast metal and plastic. It includes extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Western Models, Geminijets and Inflight200.
Includes display stand.
