Up for sale is a brand new 1:200 scale PHILIPPINES AIRLINES DOUGLAS DC-8-53 PI-C801 “Sampaguita” (AC211165) by Aeroclassics.
This former DC-8 was leased to Philippines Airlines in June 1962. It was originally destined for them but went briefly to KLM. The aircraft displayed a hybrid livery when it went into service with the airline. It was broken up in Manila in 1987. It had a moment of fame and was called “Pacific Pacer” when it set a distance record on a test flight from Tokyo to Miami (8,792 miles in 13 hours 52 minutes) on 23-Feb-1962.
This model aircraft is made from die-cast metal and includes extensive detailing. It is similar in quality to Gemini Jets, Phoenix Models, JC Wings and Inflight200.
No display stand included.
